Country reference

  • Country: Singapore (Wave 1 expansion country)
  • Authorities: Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS); Ministry of Finance (MOF)
  • Topic: Corporate Income Tax return for Year of Assessment (YA) 2026, covering the financial year that ended in 2025
  • Key date: 30 November 2026
  • Law: Income Tax Act 1947

What IRAS requires

All companies must file the YA 2026 Corporate Income Tax Return by 30 November 2026 at mytax.iras.gov.sg. IRAS says this includes companies that did not carry on business or made a loss in financial year 2025. Directors stay responsible for timely and accurate filing even when a tax agent is engaged, and late filing or non-filing may bring penalties of up to S$5,000.

Key facts

  • Rate: a flat 17% of chargeable income, for local and foreign companies.
  • Partial tax exemption: 75% of the first S$10,000 and 50% of the next S$190,000 of normal chargeable income, a maximum exemption of S$102,500 per YA.
  • Start-up exemption: for qualifying new companies in their first three consecutive YAs, 75% of the first S$100,000 and 50% of the next S$100,000, a maximum of S$125,000 per YA.
  • Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI): due within three months of the financial year end, unless annual revenue is S$5 million or below and the ECI is nil.

Which form applies

  • Form C-S: incorporated in Singapore, annual revenue of S$5 million or below, income taxable at 17% only, and no claim for carry-back of current-year capital allowances or losses, group relief, investment allowance, or foreign tax credit and tax deducted at source.
  • Form C-S (Lite): qualifies for Form C-S and has annual revenue of S$200,000 or below. Six essential fields.
  • Form for Dormant Company: no business and no income in the financial year. Two declarations.
  • Form C: every other company, filed with financial statements, tax computation and supporting schedules.

What changed in 2026: the rebate

Budget 2026, delivered on 12 February 2026, announced a Corporate Income Tax Rebate of 40% of tax payable for YA 2026, a minimum benefit of S$1,500 as a cash grant, and a combined cap of S$30,000. On 7 April 2026, in a Ministerial Statement on the impact of the Middle East situation, the Government raised the rebate to 50%, the cash grant to S$2,000 and the combined cap to S$40,000.

  • Cash grant: for active companies that made CPF contributions for at least one local employee in 2025, excluding shareholders who are also directors. It is not taxable.
  • Automatic: IRAS computes the rebate in the YA 2026 assessment. Do not deduct it in the ECI or the return.
  • Scope: the rebate also applies to income taxed at a concessionary rate, but not to income subject to a final withholding tax.

Also on the way

MOF consulted from 8 June to 1 July 2026 on the draft Finance (Income Taxes) Bill 2026, which carries the rebate and other Budget 2026 measures into law. IRAS also plans to require companies to submit objections and revisions to assessments through its Revise/Object to Assessment digital service from 1 July 2027.

What to do now

  • Check that the filer holds Corppass authorisation as Approver for Corporate Tax (Filing and Application).
  • Confirm the form that applies, and check a dormant company’s status under Update Corporate Profile.
  • File before 30 November. Pay within one month of the Notice of Assessment, even if you object; objections are due within two months of the notice.
  • Check that the Notice of Assessment shows the rebate. If the company qualifies for the cash grant and did not receive it, write to IRAS through myTaxMail by 30 November 2026.

Our take

For groups with a Singapore subsidiary, the rebate needs no action, and the cap makes it modest for larger companies. The real exposure is the filing itself: one fixed date for every company, with directors accountable. Put 30 November in the close calendar now and confirm the form and Corppass access this month.
